BATON ROUGE, La. - Since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, or arguably since the end of World War II in 1945, the United States of America has taken the position of the most powerful nation in the world. We have not always wielded that power as we should have, however. We champion freedom, democracy, and liberty, while at the same time propping up monarchs in Iran and dictators in Cambodia and using your tax dollars to invade nations and meddle in their affairs. We saw this in the Republic of Iraq, where the power vacuum we left behind set the stage for the Islamic State.
For a bit of historical context let’s look at one particular member of the “Axis of Evil” where “Death to America” chants are regarded as a national pastime. The Islamic Republic of Iran regularly makes American news for their supposed opposition to America and her values. They fund rebel groups that wage war on our allies, but said the media fails to explain why this happens. In the first half of the 20th Century, Iran was a parliamentary monarchy more similar to the United Kingdom. In 1951, Mohammad Mosaddegh was democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran and proposed reforms that would have given the Iranian people more control over their own resources, like we are currently proposing for Americans. What we did next, as the supposed champions of freedom and democracy was shameful. We overthrew Prime Minister Mosaddegh and let a King install a military dictator instead. Thousands of people, patriots who simply wanted freedom and democracy were killed. 1979, the Iranian people overthrew their monarchy with the memory of what American elites had done to them.
While people starve and overdose in the streets, the elites of this country have decided that having the “most lethal fighting force in the world” is more important than taking care of our own American people. They have decided that it is more important to prop up kings than to take care of their own people. Patriotic Democracy does not just hold that Americans ought to bring about change and build a country to be proud of, but also that people of all nations particularly those nations that have been ravaged and plundered by their own versions of King George III must declare their own independence. It is not the job of the United States to keep the world “peaceful” through endless war.
Other countries must declare their independence as a ruling elite from far off lands— an elite that controls all of the food they eat, and the minerals in their soil. We are not going to use our own military to keep these countries from their own money and we are not going to build enemies and antagonistic relationships with billions of people who have suffered under overfed despots who seek to squeeze every dollar from their pockets, just as we have. Just as we as Americans are fighting and will continue to fight for control over our wallets, we will support and encourage our allies, our fellow patriots to support Patriotic Democracy all over the world.
The bottom line is that the United States need not waste her money meddling in the affairs of sovereign nations and she need not send her men and women to die as redcoats stopping the people’s of the third world from declaring their own independence.
